What are DMARDs?

DMARDs are medications used to treat a number of inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. They work over time to supress the immune system and reduce the swelling, stiffness and pain in joints to help bring the disease into remission, preventing long-term damage.

 

They can be grouped into 2 main groups- conventional DMARDs and biological therapies.
